In the beginning at the sound check, I brought in Headway The Band that I bought for the show and the sound crew from the theatre already had DPA ready for my upright.
We were A/B ing the sounds from both The Band and DPA, and the sound crew and the sound supervisor from the Disney were very happy with The Band for its natural and yet loud signal without any ambient noise issue. (because I am surrounded by drummer and pit percussion, so DPA would have been very challenging) So they removed DPA and we did all 300+ shows only with The Band straight through DI.
I am glad I trusted the Band after doing some research online before going into the rehearsal for the show. I really enjoyed how much of “real upright sound” the Band retains and just amplifies the transparent sound of the instrument, both for bow and pizzicato
The Lion King is closing but I am looking forward to continue to enjoy using it. I am usually in a very loud environment when I play the upright, like with 40 singer Gospel choir with full band, so I know I will appreciate the pickup very much.

…been playing with the Band 2 with Skipinnish and it is great….Put it through my pre amp and it has a natural sound and can tailor the sound I am looking for.

I bought 2 Headway HE4-FEQ´sfor my Fylde and for my Lowden (split saddle). The sound is great. But the best results they have is with the Headway SK-60 – Unbelievable!
